Christopher Mayer, PhD – Chief Executive Officer

Christopher Mayer, Longbridge CEO

Dr. Mayer earned a PhD in economics from MIT, and serves as Paul Milstein Professor of Real Estate at Columbia Business School (on leave). He has been with Longbridge Financial since its founding in 2012, first as Chief Credit Officer, and later taking over as CEO in 2013. Previously, Dr. Mayer served as Senior Vice Dean and Director of the Milstein Center for Real Estate at Columbia and has held positions at the Wharton School and the Federal Reserve. He has spent more than 20 years writing on housing and mortgages, with funding from sources such as the National Science Foundation, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Pew Charitable Trusts and publications in the top economic journals. He testified six times before the U.S. Congress during the financial crisis and frequently appears in the media with appearances in The New York Times, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, among other outlets. Chris is committed to bringing the strategic value of reverse mortgages to today’s older Americans with a responsible approach that helps ensure a more secure retirement.

Manjiang Xu – President & Chief Operating Officer

Prior to founding Longbridge Financial, Manjiang Xu was Chief Operating Officer of New York Life Home Equity Income LLC, a startup for Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) and proprietary reverse mortgages. This role combined company-wide leadership of operations, information technology, sourcing, and strategies. Manjiang previously worked in New York Life’s M&A department, and also oversaw the agency, telemarketing, and bank distribution channels of several Asia-based operations. Manjiang earned an MS in Computer Engineering from Wayne State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.

Melissa Macerato – Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Melissa Macerato has a 20+ year track record as a senior leader launching and growing new business ventures into profitable, market-leading programs within large corporations. Over the last 14 years, she held various positions within the MetLife organization, including the launch of MetLife Bank and the development of MetLife’s reverse mortgage business, which grew into the number one-ranked reverse mortgage program in the nation. Prior to joining MetLife, Melissa was a Vice President with MBNA America and a Senior Director at GE Capital.
